History allows us to take a look at where we were and how far we have come. It’s that journey that defines life. History spans more than one generation and that’s what gives it its appeal. Museums help a community come together to examine our past to help create a better future. Make some time to visit our museum with your family. We’re sure you’ll all enjoy it and ironically, the experience it will add to your own family’s history.
Welcome to the Museum! – the repository of Sea Isle City’s 137 year history. We have an eclectic array of artifacts on display, ranging from a hundred-year-old trolley bell to a jet pilot’s flight suit from the 1970s. Our research material includes thousands of photographs, maps, books, pamphlets, and personal remembrances, plus collections on specialized subjects such as The Storm of 1962 and the history of Sea Isle railroads, which played a critical role in the development of the city.
We invite visitors to browse through our displays and collections, or sit and research any desired subject at leisure. It’s free – and there’s no time limit.
Created by Marie Thompson Stafford, this unique collection of bridal gowns dates back to 1880 and features gowns worn by brides from Sea Isle City. It`s a display that must be seen in person to fully appreciate. There’s nothing quite like it.
Take a close look at the Family Albums section of our museum, and you`ll find familiar names of families that were, and still are, a part of Sea Isle City`s proud history. These 200 albums represent an extensive reference tool for Sea Isle City families and visitors alike. So, when you visit us, don`t forget to spend some time exploring this section, as well as the other materials in our reference area.
